A Faith-Based Collaboration for Texas Children
Open Homes & Open Hearts
Faith-based organizations have a long history of involvement in the child welfare system. They work tirelessly across the state with children and families involved with or at risk of involvement with the child welfare system. They are an essential component in helping to make a life-changing difference in the lives of children and families in their communities. Through their collaboration with CPS, faith-based communities provide goods, services, and support to prevent children from entering the child welfare system.
Many of these active congregations have programs to recruit foster and adoptive parents, provide enrichment activities for children, including tutoring, after-school programs, and even offer programs for parents, including parenting and marriage classes, substance abuse and mental health counseling.
My goal is to promote this faith-based initiative and motivate more families across Texas to open their homes and their hearts to a child in need.
