Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick: Statement on the Passage of Senate Bill 6 – Funds to Build the Wall

AUSTIN – Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick issued this statement today following the Texas Senate’s passage of Senate Bill 6, Funds to Build the Wall, by Sen. Joan Huffman, R-Houston:

“As the Biden Administration fans the flames of the crisis on our southern border, Texas continues to step into the breach to keep our state safe. In January of 2019, I was the first person to suggest that Texas should build the wall to secure our southern border, and now, the Texas Senate has passed SB 6, which appropriates $1.54 billion to continue building the border wall in addition to the over $5 billion appropriated in our budget to continue funding Operation Lone Star.

“Our work to secure the border is far from over. As the Biden Administration actively works against us, the Texas House must pass this bill and send it to Gov. Abbott’s desk to stop illegal border crossings. We must give Texas law enforcement as many tools as possible to secure the border and keep Texans safe.”

SB 6, by Sen. Joan Huffman, appropriates $1.54 billion to continue building a wall on our southern border and increase law enforcement at the Colony Ridge development in Liberty County.
