Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick: Statement on the Passage of Senate Bill 15 – Protecting Women’s College Sports

AUSTIN – Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick issued this statement today following the Texas Senate’s passage of Senate Bill 15, Protecting Women’s College Sports, by Sen. Mayes Middleton, R-Galveston:

“In athletic competitions across America, statistics show the reality that men can run and swim faster, throw farther and jump higher than women. This is common knowledge. To pretend otherwise denies all women athletes the right to compete on a level playing field. Women have been fighting for equality in sports for decades and have achieved massive success as athletes. Allowing men to play women’s college sports, in denial of basic common sense, deprives them of the right to be the best in their sport.

“The woke left’s continual push to have men play women’s sports is an insult to all women athletes across Texas. Last session, we banned boys from playing girls sports in Texas K-12 sports, and now, the Texas Senate has taken yet another principled stand for the truth and passed SB 15 to prohibit men from participating in women’s college sports in Texas.”
