Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick Announces Appointments to the Work Group on Blockchain Matters



 

AUSTIN – Today, Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick announced the appointments of Sen. Angela Paxton, Claire Barber, Christopher Calicott, Patrick Hatfield, Jason Kelley, and Robert Villaseñor to the Work Group on Blockchain Matters. Upon making the appointments, Lt. Gov. Patrick issued the following statement:

“For Texas to continue being a hotbed for business, we must be at the forefront of innovation. I am confident that the Work Group on Blockchain Matters will outline a clear path for Texas to be a blockchain heavyweight for decades to come.”

Angela Paxton is the State Senator for District 8. Paxton is the Vice-Chair of the Senate Committee on Nominations and is a former teacher.

Claire Barber is an Associate Attorney at Polunsky Beitel Green, LLP.

Christopher Calicott is the Managing Director at Trammel Venture Partners.

Patrick Hatfield is a Partner at Locke Lord LLP.

Jason Kelley is the Global General Manager of IBM Strategic Partners.

Robert Villaseñor is the General Counsel at MoneyGram International.

The Work Group on Blockchain Matters was created by House Bill 1576 during the 87th Legislature to develop a master plan for the expansion of the blockchain industry in Texas and recommend policies and state investments in connection with blockchain technology.
