Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick Announces Departure of Senior Advisor



 

AUSTIN – Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick announced today that his Senior Advisor, Sherry Sylvester, will be leaving his office at the end of July. Sylvester has worked for Lt. Gov. Patrick for the past seven years, working on his first campaign for lieutenant governor and serving on his transition team after he was elected. She joined his capitol staff as his senior advisor in 2016 where she directed messaging and communications and worked on legislative strategy and policy issues.

“Sherry has been on the ground with me since I first ran for Lt. Governor in 2014 and she has become one of my closest advisors. She is the best strategic communications thinker in the Capitol and her legendary work ethic and wide range of public policy experience have been invaluable to me. I am grateful for her leadership, guidance and judgement and I wish her the best as she moves on to the next chapter of her career.”

Sylvester will depart the Lt. Governor’s Office at the end of July.

Before joining Lt. Gov. Patrick, Sylvester served for over a decade as the spokesperson and a strategic advisor for Texans for Lawsuit Reform. She is an award-winning journalist who has published hundreds of pieces of political commentary and policy analysis. She has worked as a policy advocate in Washington D.C. and four state capitols – Austin, Albany, Trenton and Salem.
