Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick: Statement on the Passage of Senate Bill 15

AUSTIN – Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick issued this statement today following the unanimous passage of Senate Bill 15, the Ban the Sale of Personal Data from Certain State Agencies Act, by Sen. Robert Nichols, R-Jacksonville:

“I congratulate Sen. Nichols and the Texas Senate on the unanimous passage of Senate Bill 15 to protect the personal data and privacy of Texans. When Texans provide their personal information to the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS), the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV), or the Texas Department of Transportation (TXDOT), they have an expectation that their personal data won’t be sold to marketing companies or bad actors. Senate Bill 15 will help guard against fraud and increase data privacy and I am grateful to Sen. Nichols for his hard work on this legislation.”
