Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick: Statement on the Passage of Senate Bill 6

AUSTIN – Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick issued this statement today following yesterday’s passage of Senate Bill 6, the Pandemic Liability Protection Act, by Senator Kelly Hancock, R-North Richland Hills:

“I congratulate Sen. Kelly Hancock and the Texas Senate for passing this essential legislation, which was a priority for me and for the businessmen and women across Texas. The COVID-19 pandemic presented serious challenges to both large and small Texas companies. Today, our Texas job creators are working harder than ever to make sure their businesses and the Texas economy come back even stronger.

“Senate Bill 6 will ensure that businesses that followed pandemic guidelines and acted in good faith will not be victimized by predatory lawsuits. Tort reform is one reason the Texas economy is one of the strongest in the nation. Preventing lawsuit abuse is even more important now as businesses continue to recover from the impact of the pandemic.”
