Lt. Gov. Patrick: Statement on the Texas Safety Action Report

AUSTIN – Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick made this statement today following the release of Gov. Greg Abbott’s Texas Safety Action Report in response to the mass shootings in El Paso and Midland/Odessa as well as shootings in Sutherland Springs, Santa Fe and Dallas:

“I worked closely with Gov. Abbott on the Texas Safety Action Roundtables and he has put forward a list of important recommendations from those critical meetings.

“Gov. Abbott and I both understand that a background check is needed for stranger-to-stranger gun sales and I am glad he included that issue in his list of recommendations for the legislature to consider. I am confident the senators will move forward on these issues and will take a number of steps to make every Texas community safer — which is our shared goal.”
