Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick: Statement on the State of the State Address

3 Emergency Items – Senate Bills 2, 3 & 10 Have Already Been Filed

AUSTIN – Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick issued this statement today following the State of the State Address by Gov. Greg Abbott:

“I congratulate Gov. Abbott on his speech today, which was a tremendous message to the people of Texas that we are committed to addressing their priorities and to ensuring that our state continues to be a place of hope where they can fulfill their dreams.

“Three of the governor’s declared emergency items have already been filed in the Texas Senate — Senate Bill 2, the property tax reform bill, Senate Bill 3, the teacher pay raise bill and Senate Bill 10, the mental health bill that focuses heavily on identifying at-risk youth.

“The governor is right that this is a time for bold ideas in Texas. I am committed — and the Texas Senate is committed — to doing our part to move forward on the important agenda he laid out today.”
