Lt. Governor Patrick: Statement on Texas Senate Christmas Tree

AUSTIN – Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick made the following statement today after helping decorate the Senate Chamber’s Christmas tree:

“I am proud to once again bring Christmas to the Texas Senate. Texans of all faiths celebrate during the end of the year holiday season and we will continue to protect that freedom and religious liberty for everyone. Jan and I are once again honored to be joined by First Lady Cecilia Abbott and the Senate Ladies group to help decorate. It is great to have this majestic Texas Christmas tree in our historic Senate Chamber.”

The lieutenant governor reinstituted the tradition of an official Christmas tree in the Senate Chamber in 2015. The fourth annual Senate Christmas tree stands 27 feet tall and was provided by the Elves Christmas Tree Farm in Denison, Texas.

The Senate Ladies decorate the official Senate Christmas tree along with state senators. Every state senator sends an ornament reflecting a special message from his or her district.
