Lt. Governor Patrick Appoints Martinez to Child Fatality Review Team Committee



 

AUSTIN – Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick announced today that he has appointed Leticia “Letty” Martinez to the Child Fatality Review Team Committee.

Upon making the announcement the lieutenant governor made the following statement:

“I am confident that Letty Martinez will work diligently with the Child Fatality Review Team Committee to ensure we are doing everything possible to reduce the number of preventable child deaths.”

Martinez is an attorney in private practice and a Board Certified Criminal Law Specialist with extensive experience handling state and federal criminal cases, specifically allegations of sexual abuse of adults and children.

She previously served as both a state and federal prosecutor. Her experience includes working as a Crimes Against Children Unit prosecutor, and Gang Unit Prosecutor at the Tarrant County District Attorney’s Office. She served as the Chief of the Family Violence Unit, Chief Prosecutor in the 371st District Court, Deputy Chief of the Misdemeanor Division and Chief of the Crimes Against Children Unit. She received a bachelor’s degree and law degree from Baylor University.

The Child Fatality Review Team Committee develops an understanding of the causes and incidence of child deaths in Texas. The committee identifies procedures to reduce the number of preventable child deaths, promotes public awareness and makes recommendations to the governor and the legislature.
