AUSTIN – Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick issued the following statement today on the pre-filing of Senate Bill 23 – E-Verify, by Senator Charles Schwertner (R- Georgetown).

“Expanding the use of E-Verify has long been a top priority for me and I applaud Sen. Schwertner for filing Senate Bill 23, which will require state contractors to use an E-Verify system when hiring to assure every new employee is legally entitled to work in this country. SB 23 will codify and strengthen current E-Verify efforts to help insure compliance and set an example for businesses across the state.”
