Lt. Governor Patrick Announces Senior Staff Departure

AUSTIN – Today, Texas Lt. Governor Dan Patrick announced the retirement of Senior Adviser Walter Fisher. Fisher joined the Lt. Governor’s staff as part of the initial transition team before Patrick’s inauguration, earlier this year.

“By most accounts the 84th legislative Senate session exceeded expectations, both in legislative achievement and overall functioning efficiency,” said Patrick. “For that, I will forever be indebted to Walter for his incomparable knowledge of legislative proceedings, the Senate and familiarity with state government.

“Not only do I consider him a brilliant maestro of the public policy process – I will always consider him a close personal friend. I will also continue to rely on Walter’s invaluable advice and counsel.”

“I have been blessed to have a front row seat for a large portion of Texas’ history,” said Fisher. “I was honored to join Dan’s team and I told him when I started, ‘when the time comes to retire I want to do so working from the legislature.’

“I am deeply appreciative he allowed me to end my career under the dome where I started.”

Before joining the Lt. Governor’s staff, Fisher was a lobbyist with 20 years combined parliamentary experience in both chambers.
