AUSTIN – “Today, the Texas Senate passed Senator Donna Campbell’s Senate Bill 531, (SB 531), also known as the “Sharia law” bill, to third reading.

“The bill’s purpose is to ensure that the constitutional rights of those who are part of the proceedings involving marriage, dissolution of marriage or a suit affecting the parent-child relationship, are protected.

“Sen. Campbell has done a great job in leading senators to advance the laws that protect our basic rights from infringement. SB 531 upholds Texas morals from foreign laws that contradict or violate our laws and our beliefs.

“With a little over a week left in the 84th legislative session, the Senate continues to focus on Texan’s priorities and protection of their constitutional rights.”
